Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve compiled a list of answers to common questions.

Why do you call it Cohoe Beach?

A summer camp for girls called Camp Cohoe was once located on the property.

How do I get to Cohoe Beach?

Depending on where you’re coming from, you can take the Edmonds-Kingston ferry, the Seattle-Bainbridge ferry, or drive via the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. In 2018, a high-speed passenger-only ferry is coming between downtown Seattle and Kingston.

Most map applications don’t get our location right. You can use Google Maps until you reach Bodine Rd. NE, but then follow Bodine until the road turns to gravel and winds through the forest. Stay to your right until you see a “dead end” sign and then veer left to head down a steep hill.
When you reach the bottom of the hill, the cabin is on the left and the cottage is the first house to the right. You can’t miss them!
What is there to do in the area?

Here is a list of some our favorite local activities, destinations, and restaurants.

Is Cohoe Beach kid-friendly?

Yes! We (the owners) have kids ranging in age from 3 to 13.

It’s easy to keep an eye on little ones while they play on the lawn, the no-bank beach, sandy tideflats, and shallow tidepools, and there is plenty of sand and sea-life to keep them entertained. Older kids enjoy exploring the two miles of uninhabited beach north of our property.

A high chair, pack and play, and plenty of sand toys are available on request.

Where can I purchase groceries and other supplies?

The closest major grocery stores are in Kingston, about a 15-minute drive away. There are also two small general stores, the Hansville Grocery and the Gliding Eagle Market, about a five-minute drive from Cohoe Beach.

Please note, if you plan to use the charcoal grill you must purchase charcoal before you arrive. Though past guests may have left charcoal or lighter fluid at the cabins, we do not pre-stock it and cannot guarantee there will be any on hand when you arrive.

What is the check-in process like?

Both cabins use a keyless entry system, so there are no keys to pick up or return. Before you check in, you will receive a unique 6-digit code that will unlock the front door to your cabin during your stay. Door codes become active at the agreed-upon check-in time and expire the day you depart.
